Restaurants in Henley-on-Thames

From a French brasserie by the theatre to Italian on the Market Place and dinner looking over the bridge, Henley punches well above its size for a night out. These are the places we would send a friend.

  1. 01 · Market Place

    The Three Tuns

A small and characterful 14th-century pub on the Market Place, taken over in 2025 by Barry Wagner of Gabriel Machin, the butcher next door. The kitchen cooks the shop's own meat, with a changing Butcher's Board of cuts such as lamb cutlets and bavette, and the pub is listed in the Michelin Guide.

  2. 02 · Remenham

    The Little Angel

A Grade II listed, mostly 18th-century pub just over Henley Bridge on the Remenham side. Its large courtyard garden borders Henley Cricket Club's ground, and the kitchen is known for steaks and a Sunday carvery. It reopened in June 2025 after a major refurbishment.

    The Relais Henley

Henley's old coaching inn, dating from 1632, on the corner of Hart Street and Thameside. It is the first building you see as you cross the bridge into town. Long known as the Red Lion, it was renamed after new owners bought it in 2020 and gave it a £3 million refurbishment, and its Clipper Restaurant looks out over the bridge.
